The Center for Excellence in Writing will be open Sunday - Thursday during the entire summer 2022 semester (June 1 - Aug 18). Both in-person and online appointments available. Hours vary by day. Schedule will be available soon.

Research Week

Next week  (4/4) at the Writing Lab it's Research Week! All week long we are hosting a serious of events aimed at helping the UB undergraduate community work on conducting research, citations, and of course writing about their research!

Avoiding plagiarism:  Feeling unsure about how to create clear boundaries between your voice and your source information?  Finding paraphrasing tricky? This workshop will help you feel more secure and confident.  (Led by Odette) [Monday 4/4 12:15-1:15pm]

Research paper writing process:  A research paper is a project. Learn project management techniques for breaking the project into manageable tasks that will lead you to success!   (Led by Rhonda) [Monday 4/4, 2-3pm]

Citation Styles: Feeling a bit confused about how to apply MLA or APA to your research paper? Take a tour of sample papers to get a feeling for the details that are conventionalized through these citation styles.  (Let by Rhonda) [Tuesday 4/5 3-4pm]

Research Tips and Strategies:  CEW writing consultants Samantha, Lilli and Lauren have created this workshop to share their go-to research strategies and UB Library features. [Wednesday 4/6 2-3pm & Thursday 4/7 2-3pm]

Librarian in the Lab:  UB Librarian Beth Carpenter who specializes in working with English 105 students will be in the Writing Lab so that you can get one-to-one research assistance along with your writing consultation!  [Friday 4/8, 2-3pm]
