Campus notes Commuter Awareness Week

This is Commuter Awareness Week with special activities planned to encourage commuter students' involvement on campus. Commuter coffee breaks have been held daily in the Student Union Lobby on the North Campus from 8:30-10:30 a.m., hosted by Student Life and SA Commuter Affairs with a different campus office, faculty or administrator as co-host each day. Today's co-hosts are UB Dining Services; Vice Provost's Office-Undergraduate Education; Learning Center; Student Health Center; Parking and Transportation. Friday's co-hosts are Engineering; Office of Student Life and Parking and Transportation.

Commuter coffee break will be held in Harriman Student Center Lobby on the South Campus Friday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Events continuing this week include:

  • Relaxation Station, sponsored by Living Well Center, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today in Student Union Lobby, North Campus.

  • Free ping pong and billiards Friday at Student Union, North Campus, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Harriman Student Center, South Campus (billiards only), 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and Oasis, North Campus (billiards only) 1-3 p.m.

    The Office of Student Life offers services, programs and activities year-round to help meet the needs of commuter and off-campus students. Among the features are a Commuter Bulletin Board on the ground floor of the Student Union and outside the UGL in Capen Hall. Students can check there for information, announcements and resources. The Commuter Corner, outside Room 112 in the Student Union has area maps posted along with current NFTA Metro bus schedules and other information. The Commuter Rideboard is a carpooling board where students can find riders and drivers from their area.
