Electronic Highways: UB Document Express

Need library materials from the other campus when time is short? The University Libraries have developed a quick and convenient intercampus document delivery service for your use!

UB Document Express is available to members of the UB community whose departments are located on one campus and who are requesting materials located on the other campus. Circulating books, government documents, theses, conference proceedings, and journal articles are available through the service. Audiovisual, reference, and reserve materials are not.

How can you use UB Document Express? Request forms are available at each UB library at either the circulation desk (in the case of the Law, Lockwood, Music, Undergraduate, Architecture & Planning and Mathematics libraries) or the reference desk (at the Science and Engineering Library and Health Sciences Library). Completed forms can be faxed to 645-3859 or 835-4891, mailed or dropped off at any UB library.

Or, perhaps even more conveniently, you can submit a UB Document Express request electronically. For those of you with access to the World Wide Web, connect to the Libraries Home Page through Wings and select "Online Services." Alternatively, on the VAX or UNIX, simply type "ubxpress" at your system prompt.

Requests are responded to within 24 hours and you can choose how you wish the materials to be delivered to you. Books and bound materials will be delivered to the UB library circulation desk you designate. Journal articles will be photocopied and can be delivered to your home or office by fax, campus mail, or U.S. mail-or you can designate a library where the article will be sent for you to pick up.

For more information about the service, contact Karen Senglaup at 645-2815 or lolkds@ubvm.cc.buffalo.edu or Cindy Bertuca at 829-3351 or cbertuca@ubmedb.buffalo.edu. For information on connecting to Wings, the University campus wide information service, contact on the CIT Help Desk at 645-3542.
