BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Deborah D.L. Chung, Ph.D., professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at the University at Buffalo, has been named a fellow of ASM International, a professional organization dedicated to advancing industry, technology and applications of metals and materials.
She was one of 43 individuals honored with the designation during ASM's week-long annual meeting, held earlier this month in Rosemont, Ill.
Chung, who also is Niagara Mohawk Professor of Materials Research at UB, was honored for her outstanding contributions to the development of structural composite materials and their mechanical testing.
ASM, formerly known as the American Society of Metals, has more than 44,000 members worldwide.
Chung's research interests include materials science and engineering, composites processing and interfaces, electronic packaging materials and metal-matrix composites.
She is a member of numerous professional organizations and is a past director of ASM's Buffalo chapter.
Chung is a resident of East Amherst.
