UB to close Dec. 25, Jan. 1

Published December 12, 2019

UB will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.

Employees required to work these days will earn a compensatory holiday that can be used at a later date.

While the university will be open Dec. 23-24 and Dec. 26-27, vice presidents and deans may choose to close their individual units during the holiday week if warranted by operating needs.

Employees who decide to take these days off must charge vacation, personal leave or compensatory time. State employees who do not have sufficient accruals may request an advance of up to four vacation days or can choose to take the days off without pay. Advanced vacation days can only be requested for the week of Dec. 23-27. Research Foundation employees may take the days off without pay.

Employees who choose to work if their units are closed may do so; the University Libraries will serve as the alternate work site.

More information on how to request advanced vacation days or to make arrangements to work at the library is available online.
