Boldly Buffalo video series earns New York Emmy®

A series of videos produced for Boldly Buffalo: The Campaign for UB received a New York Emmy® award May 4 at a black-tie gala in New York City’s Marriott Marquis Time Square.

The Office of Donor and Alumni Communications, in conjunction PicSix Creative, a division of Pegula Sports & Entertainment (PSE), produced the series to mark the beginning of the university’s largest fundraising campaign in its — and SUNY’s — history.

The series was launched at the kickoff of the Boldly Buffalo campaign in May 2018, and set the stage for the campaign’s themes, namely “our place,” “our way,” “our future.” Four more “webisodes” have since been released, showcasing first-person donor accounts that promote the ways in which private philanthropy enhances the university and myriad avenues to impact students.

“The donors in these webisodes share their passion for UB and how that passion resulted in their decision to give back,” says Rod Grabowski, vice president for university advancement. “These are very personal stories that have far-reaching significance, and the reaction from our alumni, donors and friends has been extremely positive.”

The prestigious Emmy® Awards are conducted by The New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and serve as a peer-recognition symbol of distinction in television that fosters creativity and inspires artistic and technical excellence.

The PSE team was nominated for its excellence in eight categories, including four in the commercial category that included the campaign videos.
