Keeping your UBmail when you retire from UB

Faculty and staff are eligible to keep their UBmail account if they retired or graduated from UB.

UB retirees

Prior to retiring, contact your department’s IT support staff to inform them of your pending retirement.

  • You must log into your UBmail account at UBmail.buffalo.edu at least once every 90 days to keep it active
  • If you fail to log in within 90 days and want to reactivate your UBmail account, contact the UBIT Help Center. They will re-create your UBmail account with the same email address, but none of your previously saved email messages can be recovered.

Others eligible to keep their UBmail

  • Former employees who are UB alumni - Contact your support staff before you leave UB to request to keep your UBmail
  • Former UB medical residents - Opt in through the Alumni Association
