Setting Up a Computer for UB Learns

UB Learns requires an internet connection, a supported browser with pop-up blockers disabled and plug-ins for PDF, multimedia and audio files.

Connect to the Internet

Using UB Learns (ublearns.buffalo.edu) requires a computer that is connected to the internet and a supported web browser.

Use a Supported Browser

It is recommended that you use an up-to-date Web browser. UB supported software recommendations are available on the UB Software Downloads site.

Blackboard technical support offers a list of certified and compatible browsers for use with Blackboard.

Have the Required Plug-ins and Players

Special plug-ins or players may be needed to view files such as PDFs, audio, video and multimedia. These plug-ins and players are available from the UB Software Downloads site.

Enable Java and Disable Pop-up Blockers

In order to use all features of UB Learns, Java must be enabled and pop-up blockers need to be disabled on your web browser. Check your browser’s help to determine how to do this.
