Creating Course Content Areas

This help website is only for Blackboard.

UB's primary Learning Management System is now UB Learns, powered by Brightspace.

 

Course Content Areas are used to organize all course content materials. Some default areas are Course Documents and Assignments.

About Course Content Areas

Instructors create and manage Content Areas from the Course Menu. Instructors may decide to create additional Content Areas or edit existing Content Areas.

Adding a Content Area

By default, a specific number of Content Areas appear in a course.

  1. Point to the Add Menu Item icon (+) on the Course Menu.
  2. Select Content Area.
  3. Type a Name for the Content Area.
  4. Click the Available to Users check box to grant access to Students and other users in the Course.
  5. Click Submit.

If the Content Area contains no content, it is unavailable to students. Use the dropdown menu to the right of the newly created area for editing features. 

Managing Content Areas

Once inside a content area, use the dropdown menu to the right of the title to Edit, Delete, Show Icons Only or Show Icons and Text.
