Wikis are an effective way to contribute and modify one or more pages of related material.

About Wikis

A wiki is a collaborative tool that allows students to contribute and modify one or more pages of course related materials. The wiki page is an area where users can collaborate on content. Users within a course can create and edit wiki pages in the course or within a Course Group. Instructors and students can offer comments and the instructor can grade individual work.

Creating a Wiki Page

  1. Click Tools on the Course menu.
  2. Click Wikis.
  3. Click on the wiki to create a wiki page.
  4. Click Create Wiki Page.
  5. Provide a Name and enter content in the text editor.
  6. Click Submit to finish your work.

Editing Wiki Content

  1. Click Tools on the Course menu.
  2. Click Wikis.
  3. Access the wiki you would like to edit.
  4. Click Edit Wiki Content.
  5. Make your edits in the text editor.
  6. Click Submit to save your work.

Linking to Other Wiki Pages

Links to other wiki pages can only be created when at least two pages exist. The link icon appears in the text editor of the page you are working on.

  1. Select the icon from the text editor.
  2. Select the wiki page you want to link to.
  3. Renaming the link is optional.
  4. Click Submit.

Adding Comments

  1. Open the Comments box.
  2. Enter your comments.
  3. Click Add when you are finished.

To view all the comments, expand the Comments link.

Note: You will only see a comment button if the instructor give access to it.
