Purchasing Windows 8.1 Upgrade for Personally Owned Windows Computers (Faculty / Staff)

Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1.

Note: You are limited to one purchase of this software. You will receive an email from Kivuto OnTheHub after purchase is completed.

Eligibility

Upgrades are available to:

  • UB Faculty who are paid by UB
  • UB Faculty Student Association employees
  • UB State employee (UUP, CSEA, MC, PEF)

You are entitled to only one upgrade, either 32-bit or 64-bit. Microsoft only provides a license to upgrade to Windows 8.1 under the UB Agreement.  

Qualifying Operating Systems under the UB Agreement:

  • Apple Macintosh (for use with Boot Camp, Parallels, VMWare, etc.)
  • Windows 7 Basic or Home versions

Building a New Computer

Only Windows operating system upgrades are available. You cannot purchase a full installation.

If you build a computer from scratch and it is not loaded with an operating system:

  • You are not allowed to use the UB Windows Upgrade to install Windows
  • You must buy a full version of Windows

Use of this product for system building is prohibited by Microsoft and UB. The Windows Upgrade product is required to be registered and activated to ensure it is legally obtained and installed.
