Setting Jabber to Launch Automatically

You can have Jabber start automatically when your computer starts.

  1. To set Jabber to start when your computer starts:
  2. Windows: Click the gear menu and choose Options
  3. Mac: Select Jabber > Options
  4. Select General > Start Cisco Jabber when my computer starts to automatically launch Jabber when your computer starts.
  5. Click OK.

Enabling Automatic Spell Check

Spell check can be enabled to correct spelling errors as you type. This may be useful if you use Chat.

Spelling in Windows

  1. Click the  gear menu and choose Options.
  2. Select General > Check spelling automatically.
  3. Click OK.

Spelling in Mac

  1. Select Jabber > Preferences
  2. Select Chats
  3. Select the spelling rule from Auto-correct spelling

Adjusting Speakers, Microphones and Ringers

You can adjust the ringer, microphone and speaker volume for Jabber.

  1. Select the following:
    • Windows: Click the gear menu and choose Options
    • Mac: Select Jabber > Preferences and click General
  2. Select Audio
  3. Select your Ringer/Alerts, Speaker and Microphone source, then adjust the slider beneath it to adjust the volume level
  4. If you have multiple audio devices, click Advanced and select the order of preference to use with Jabber, then click OK
  5. Click OK

Bringing Conversation Window to the Front

You can have Jabber bring your conversation to the front of your computer.

Windows

  1. Click the gear menu and choose Options.
  2. Select Calls.
  3. Select On all calls next to Computer.
  4. Click OK.

Macintosh

  1. Select Jabber > Preferences
  2. Click General 
  3. Select Keep phone window on top of all other windows.

Status Settings

You can adjust the settings for when to let others know if you are available or not.

Manually Set Status

  1. Open the Jabber hub.
  2. Click the colored circle next to your name and select a status: Available, Away or Do Not Disturb. Alternately, you can choose Add custom status, give it a name and status color, then click OK.

Automatically Indicate Out of Office When Not Active or Computer Locked

  1. Open the Jabber hub.
  2. Click the gear menu and choose Options.
  3. Select Status.
  4. Check Show me as 'Away' if not active for minutes and choose a length of time.
  5. Check Show me as 'Away' when I lock my computer if you want to let others know you are away when your computer is locked.
  6. Click OK.

Automatically Indicate Out of Office When Not Active or Computer Locked

  1. Open the Jabber hub.
  2. Click the gear menu and choose Options.
  3. Select Status.

  6. Click OK.
