Connecting On Campus using UB Secure with Windows Phone

Configure your Windows Phone for a secure connection to the UB Wi-Fi network on campus.

Connecting to Wi-Fi on Campus

UB Secure is the recommended access choice for UB's campus network. Your UBITName and password and all data transmitted from your device to the wireless access point (the campus network) are encrypted.

Windows 8.1 on Windows Phone

  1. Press on UB Secure under the Wi-Fi listing.
  2. When you connect, fill in:
    • your UBITName for username
    • your UBITName password
    • PEAP
    • MS-CHAP V2
  3. Accept the ceritifcate when prompted.
  4. If the instructions do not work, contact the CIT Help Desk for further assistance.

Windows 6.x

  1. Go to Start > Settings.
  2. Click the Connections tab.
  3. Click Wi-Fi.
  4. After the Configure Wireless Networks screen appears, click Menu in the lower right, then select Turn on Wi-Fi.
  5. UB_Secure will appear as an available network. Click UB_Secure.
  6. In the Connects to: field select The Internet. Click Next.
  7. On the Configure Network Authentication screen select WPA2 in the Authentication field and AES in the Data Encryption field. Click Next.
  8. On the Configure Network Authentication window select PEAP as the EAP type. Click Finish.
  9. You will be returned to the Configure Wireless Networks screen. After several seconds, the Network Log On screen will appear. Enter your UBITName in the User name field.  Enter your UBITName password in the Password field. Click OK.
