Common Questions

I'm having trouble logging in.

  • Make sure:
    • autocorrect isn't capitalizing the first letter of your UBITName: all UBITNames are lowercase.
    • your caps lock key isn't on when entering your password.
    • you are only entering your UBITName, not your full email address.
  • Check the UBIT Services Status to see if any services are unavailable or undergoing maintenance.
  • If you still can’t log in,  contact the CIT Help Desk .

I bookmarked the login page but I get a UBITName login error when I go to it.

When bookmarking a page, bookmark the service URL, such as or, and not the login page that prompts you for your UBITName and password.

I can't find my UBITName when I try to look it up.

The Find Your UBITName tool does not contain UBITNames for retirees, professors emeriti, alumni or students who have filed for FERPA. If your UBITName is not listed and you do not know it, contact the CIT Help Desk.

How do I know if it's a real UBITName Login page or a phishing attempt?

  • Hover over links and make sure they go to a address, and check the URL to see if it is a site.
  • Check to see if there are active phishing attempts targeting UB that look like what you are logging into.
  • Contact the CIT Help Desk if you're not sure.
