Forgetting your UBITName password can be a real headache. That’s why UBIT provides several fast and convenient ways for students, faculty and staff to reset their passwords securely at any time, from anywhere in the world.

First, set your security questions and register your mobile phone or non-UB email address

Daniel Heuskin (UB Student, Class of 2017) is originally from Long Island, NY. He is studying English at UB with aspirations to become a teacher or writer. In his free time, he enjoys playing bass guitar, doing nature photography, writing songs and reading.

To activate your UBITName or change your password, the UBITName Manager is the place to go. Here, you can set up security questions and even create unique questions of your own.

You also have the option of requesting a unique PIN to be sent to any registered non-UB email or mobile phone via text message. Once you register your mobile phone or alternate email in the UBITName Manager, you can use your new PIN to verify your identity.

Both the PIN and security question resets work from anywhere in the world at anytime.

Ready to get started? Register your non-UB email and mobile phone number.

If all else fails, contact the UBIT Help Center

If you’ve registered a mobile device or alternate email, and don’t remember the answers to your security questions, you can call the UBIT Help Center at (716) 645-3542 to reset your password. After answering a brief set of questions based on official university data, UBIT Help Center staff will reset your password remotely.

If you’re on campus, you can also stop by one of our help centers and speak with a consultant. UBIT Help Centers are located in the Lockwood 2nd Floor Cybrary on North Campus and Abbott Hall on South Campus. Both locations are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and Lockwood is open noon to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday during fall and spring semesters as well.

Avoid the wait

Because the UBIT Help Center isn’t available 24/7, students, faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to set up their security questions and/or register a mobile phone or non-UB email to receive a PIN. By taking advantage of these easy password reset options, you avoid having to wait for access to your account should you forget your password.

Please note that anyone with access to regulated private data at UB will be unable to reset their password by calling the UBIT Help Center.
