Receive a Duo push you didn’t initiate? Be sure to reset your password immediately.
It’s easy to approve every Duo Push, but be mindful unless you’re actively logging into a UB service. If you do, you may be allowing scammers access to your UBITName account and all the services it provides, including Financial Aid, UB email and anything else you connect your email to, such as bank accounts and direct deposits.
If you inadvertently hit approve on a Duo notification, use the UBITName Manager to change your password immediately. This will keep scammers from continuing to access your account.
In terms of password strength, go for complexity and uniqueness. Use a passphrase—full sentence with numbers/symbols, like “Sunshine on my sh0ulders!” Easy to remember, super secure.
Don't reuse passwords. Every account needs a unique passphrase. If one is compromised, others stay safe. Use fun, memorable phrases for secure and enjoyable practice.
