Reset 8800 Series VoIP Phone

There are two types of resets: Security resets and factory resets.

Security reset is used to fix:

  • Registration Rejected: Security Error
  • Trust List Update Failed
  • Host Not Found
  • Ringlist Unavailable

Most of these issues are certificate trust issues.

Factory reset is used:

  • where you need to switch operational modes (Collaboration - Collaboration Edge - Mobile and Remote Access)
  • when other procedures are not successful

Instructions

Perform a security reset

This procedure should be performed under the guidance of technical staff.

When the phone resets, devices connected downstream may be disrupted. If the phone requires multiple resets, there may be another issue.

Verification

ITL Issues

  1. From the phone itself, press Applications > Admin Settings > Status > Status Messages .
  2. Look for TFTP Error or Trust List Update Failed.
  3. From the phone's internal web page, view Status Messages and confirm the same.

CTL Issues

No issues have been experienced as of this time.

Procedure

ITL or CTL Erase

  1. Press Applications (Gear)
  2. Press Admin Settings
  3. Press Reset Settings
  4. Press Security Settings
  5. Press the Reset softkey to confirm

Perform a factory reset

This procedure should be performed under the guidance of technical staff.

When the phone resets, devices connected downstream may be disrupted. If the phone requires multiple resets, there may be another issue.

Keypad

  1. Unplug the telephone from the network so that it powers down, or shutdown the network port.
  2. Hold the # key on the phone, while plugging it back in or turning the port back on.
  3. Wait for the Headset Mute and Speaker lights to turn on, then off. You'll see the Headset and Speaker lights come back on.
  4. Key enter 123456789*0# .
  5. When you press 1 you should see the Speaker light turn off.
  6. When the sequence completes, the Mute light will turn back on, and the phone will boot as default.
  7. If you're still having issues with the device, proceed with further troubleshooting.

User Interface (UI)

If the phone boots and the menu is usable, you can erase the configurations from the keypad:

  1. Press the Applications Gear button.
  2. Press Admin Settings
  3. Press Reset Settings
  4. Press All Settings
  5. Press Reset to confirm. The phone will reboot back in out-of-the-box mode.
