Julia MacMurray is a certified Project Management Professional
(PMP) and the Project Management Process Owner for Network and
Classroom Services (NCS). Julia's skills help efficiently manage
projects. "Project management helps us to 'get it right the first
time' with repeatable processes that produce predictable outcomes,"
Before coming to UB, Julia was Regional Engineering Manager for
an integrated communications systems company. Prior to that, she
was Telecommunications Manager and later Deputy CIO for Erie
County. During her time with the County, Julia connected with
people at UB while working on various projects. Her current
position in CIT allows her to share her experience and skills.
Working at UB, Julia is given the flexibility she needs as the
mother of two young children.
Currently, Julia is working on the CIT Incident Management
Process Improvement Project, which involves collaborating with
various CIT staff members. The new process and tool should enable
better recording and reporting to help CIT resolve incidents more
Julia's skills enable her to contribute to project management
processes and tools so NCS staff can "...ideally complete projects
in a more predictable manner, on time and on budget." One such tool
is the “Project Management Tool Kit," an Excel workbook to
help NCS staff track and manage their projects. Julia enjoys being
a respected resource for project management questions and likes
helping others facilitate projects.
At home, Julia likes to cook, grow and can her own vegetables,
brew beer and spend time with her husband and two children.
