Understanding and Designing Rubrics

Location: 127 Capen Hall (inside Silverman Library), North Campus

Participants will learn about rubrics by interacting with and discussing example assessment rubrics. They will be challenged with working together to build a rubric and then apply it by assessing example evidence with it.

Learning objectives

  • Define rubrics by type and assessment methodology
  • Build an assessment rubric
  • Assess outcomes of sample evidence with a rubric
  • Describe and recognize the value of realistic well-defined, achievable, measurable and student-centered learning goals
