Location: 127 Capen Hall (inside Silverman Library), North Campus

Participants will be led through the process of "backward design" to determine the outcomes students will achieve by taking the class and then outline the course syllabus to demonstrate how the course will help students achieve these outcomes and how instructors will assess student achievement.

Learning objectives

  • Identify best practices for syllabus development related to general education
  • Identify how backward design can be utilized in developing a general education course syllabus
  • Map course outcomes to general education outcomes
  • Describe several assessment techniques and recognize their alignment with particular types of learning goals
