Building UB: Our Physical Plan

Capital Projects

Implementation of the physical plan is already underway with more than $500 million in projects under construction.

Building UB: the Comprehensive Physical Plan, is the campus plan for the University at Buffalo's continued growth.

Its principles and projects guide our ongoing efforts to transform our campuses into sustainable, beautiful places that can help us achieve our aspirations for academic excellence. Some of the projects, like new buildings for the engineering and pharmacy schools and the Educational Opportunity Center, are funded by “strategic initiative” funds that were in place when the plan was created, and philanthropic dollars. Others, like the restoration of Hayes and Crosby halls, will be funded by New York State.

Capital Projects by Campus

The capital projects for North Campus will address a variety of needs for a diverse campus and improve the everyday experience for campus users.

The capital projects on South Campus are creating new opportunities from formerly worn out and vacant buildings.

The capital projects at the Downtown Campus will provide a prominent Gateway to UB for the surrounding community in addition to creating 21st century research space.
