University at Buffalo's strategic plan

Overview: The UB 2020 Initiative

UB 2020 Accomplishments

UB 2020 is enhancing educational opportunities for our students, advancing research discoveries that improve life for people throughout the world and increasing UB’s economic impact on our region and New York State. Not just a plan, but our reality, UB 2020 is having an impact across our campuses and community.

UB 2020 has inspired the campus community to articulate a far-reaching plan for UB’s emergence as a world-class research university.

As part of the UB 2020, the university unveiled “Building UB: The Comprehensive Physical Plan,” its first master plan in more than 30 years.

As part of Building UB and the UB 2020 vision, the university is completing major building and construction projects totaling more than $500 million.

A new 8-story building on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus will house UB’s Center for Clinical and Translational Research, a UB biosciences incubator and Kaleida Health’s Global Vascular Institute.

Knowledge-based Jobs

Research funding is responsible for more than 3,000 jobs on the North, South and Downtown campuses.

Investing in Student Growth

The university’s student body has steadily grown in quality and diversity. The Class of 2014 includes students from 30 U.S. states and 55 countries.
