The field of psychiatric and neurologic pharmacy is growing exponentially. Pharmacists are helping help meet the demand for treatment of psychiatric or neurological disorders by working with physicians as part of a collaborative team to improve medication-related outcomes.

Members of CPNP work directly with patients and caregivers to apply specialized clinical knowledge and skills, educate and train healthcare professionals, and develop new knowledge in order to improve health outcomes for those individuals with psychiatric disorders, including substance use and neurologic disorders. Members apply evidence-based, cost-efficient best practices as a member of a treatment team to achieve patient recovery and improved quality of life.

The newly elected student officers for CPNP are Brittany Banks, '19, president, and Zachery McAtee, '19, vice-president.

CPNP joins the 25+ professional student organizations at the UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. It is part of the national College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists organization, which boasts more than 2,100 members.

For over 130 years, the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has continually been a leader in the education of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, renowned for innovation in clinical practice and research.
