RecycleMania is a national competition and benchmarking tool, held each spring, for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities across campus.
Official RecycleMania weekly results are posted each Friday afternoon during the competition to the Scoreboard section of the RecycleMania website. Check out our 2019 statistics!
Throughout the competition, weekly activities supporting recycling and waste reduction will take place.
Recycling is a very important part of our daily lives and for nearly thirty years recycling has been focus at UB. However, more is required in order to be sustainable. UB is working toward achieving Zero Waste on campus. Zero Waste challenges us to greatly reduce material waste on campus by promoting a different approach to waste: “Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle.”
Signatures will be collected in the Student Union, Baldy Walkway, Center for the Arts attrium and other high traffic areas every Monday from 11am - 12pm.
Do you believe in the importance of reducing waste and recycling? We sure do and we want to let everyone know! "I recycle. Do you?" occurs every Wednesday during the 8 week competition, between the hours of 11 am and 12 pm. Volunteers will randomly ask people if they recycle, and if so, people will be asked if they'd like to be recoginized as a recycling advocate. We'll take your picture and Tweet it out. Oh, and you may even win a prize.
RecycleMania volunteers will scour our campuses every Thursday during the 8-week competition, between the hours of 1 and 2 pm. to spot someone recycling. The lucky recycler will be “Caught Green Handed” and awarded a small prize (reusable mug, etc.) for recycling.
Do you use a reusable water bottle or mug? Our volunteers will be awarding prizes to people who are reducing their environmental footprint and practicing reuse. We'll take your mug shot to Tweet out and post on our Facebook page.
