Electric Vehicles

Do you have an electric vehicle?

UB is proud to be partnering with National Grid and ChargePoint to offer electric vehicle owners three new locations to charge their vehicles. To better serve those with electric vehicles, we are collecting data on the types of vehicles that will be using the stations.

How to use the chargers

If you already have a ChargePoint card, use it here!

If you do not have a Chargepoint card, you can:

  • Call the 1-800 number on the station. The customer service representative will open the station for you and then will offer to send you a free ChargePoint card in the mail. Once you receive the ChargePoint card, you can then register it and it will be ready to use!
  • Visit www.chargepoint.com and order a card.  One will be sent to you.
  • Download the ChargePoint app and activate the app when at a charger.

  • In order to allow as many vehicles to charge as possible, vehicles can remain in each charge spot for no longer than 3 hours while charging.
  • All vehicles parked in a charge spot without being plugged in will be ticketed.

Why electric vehicles?

As a signatory of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), the University at Buffalo is committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2030.

Our Climate Action Plan recommends a number of strategies for reducing our institutional carbon footpring over time. Addressing the impact of our transportation system is a key component of the plan, and these electric charging stations will help us reach our climate neutrality goal. Switching some of our nation’s gas powered vehicle fleet to electric and natural gas will ultimately allow us to be more energy independent.
