Supporting Our Students

Counseling Services recognizes that the video release of Tyre Nichols' fatal encounter with five Memphis police officers may elicit a range of feelings for our students, and in particular, for our Black students. In addition to the potential for vicarious trauma, the video may also provoke grief, anger, fear and sadness, all of which would be understandable.

We are here to help students navigate through these difficult times. Please contact us at 716-645-2720 and ask to speak to a crisis counselor or view our website to see our array of services. If calling after hours, press 2 to be connected to a counselor.

The Intercultural and Diversity Center (IDC) office will be open on Monday 1/30 between 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. to facilitate community healing and belonging. Counseling Services staff will also be onsite from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

The IDC office is located in room 240 of the Student Union on the North Campus.
