All UB students are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend classes in-person this fall. This requirement is subject to full approval of the vaccine by the Food and Drug Administration, which is expected to happen within the next few weeks. If you have not yet submitted proof of vaccination or are unvaccinated, please review the following important information.

Campus Vaccination Requirements

Please note that once FDA approval is granted, all unvaccinated students who have not received an official exemption due to medical reasons or religious beliefs as described on the COVID-19 Immunization Requirements website must become vaccinated and submit proof of vaccination with the following deadlines: (1) Students receiving a vaccine that requires only one dose must receive the vaccine within seven days of the date of approval. (2) Students receiving a vaccine that requires two doses will be required to receive an initial dose within seven days of the date of approval and to have completed the full vaccine regimen within five weeks. Students who fail to meet either of those deadlines will be immediately resigned from all courses coded in HUB as having in-person instructional components and assigned an R grade for those courses. Students are responsible for reviewing and understanding applicable policies related to the receipt of R grades in the Undergraduate Catalog and/ or the Graduate School Policy Library.

Students are financially liable for all courses unless they have dropped or resigned by published deadlines. This applies to students who are resigned from courses with in-person instructional components due to non-compliance with the COVID-19 vaccination requirement. Please refer to Student Accounts Financial Liability Deadline site for detailed information on tuition and fee liability deadlines and dates for all course sessions.

Students who receive the vaccine after being resigned from in-person classes will have the opportunity to re-enroll in in-person classes in spring 2022.

Students seeking an exemption due to medical reasons or religious beliefs should do so now. Once FDA approval is granted, students requesting a vaccine exemption will not be allowed on campus while the request is being reviewed.

We cannot stress enough that UB’s vaccination mandate is a strict policy with serious repercussions, put in place for the health and safety of our campus community. If you are already vaccinated, you are strongly encouraged to submit proof of vaccination now by following instructions on the COVID-19 Immunization Requirements website.

If you still intend to get vaccinated, we advise you to do so right away. Vaccines are shown to be safe and effective. They are free of charge and readily available. If you are delaying your shots until FDA approval is granted, please make note of the urgency of the above timeframe. More information about getting vaccinated is available on the COVID-19 immunization requirements page.

We look forward to welcoming you back on campus very soon for a safe and successful semester!
