Health Promotion Service Changes

While Health Promotion's physical office is closed, we are working to provide many of the same programs and services remotely, even through the summer.

Relaxation Suite

Our Relaxation Suite will remain closed until further notice. If you need sexual health resources during this time, there are other options. Emergency contraception, pregnancy tests, and condoms can be purchased at most area pharmacies, including the CVS in The Commons on North Campus. At this time, emergency contraception can still be purchased at a reduced cost from the Pharmacy in the basement of Health Services.

Alcohol EDU and the Sexual Assault Prevention Course

Implementation of these courses will continue as usual. If you have not completed your requirements for Spring 2020, please make sure you do this as soon as possible and contact our office email to have your hold(s) removed. If you have questions about Alcohol EDU and/or the Sexual Assault Prevention courses, please visit our web page for details. All questions must be submitted to the help form at the bottom of that web page in order for us to answer in a timely manner.

Eating Well

Eating well is important to maintain your focus, mood, and overall health. Please see our attached tip sheet to find ways that you can take care of your nutritional needs while in quarantine.

Our registered dietitian will still be seeing appointments at this time via phone or a web conferencing platform, as appropriate. If you need to schedule an appointment with our dietitian, call (716) 645-2837, extension 8.

Smoking Cessation and Substance Use

Smoking and vaping any substance (including cannabis and tobacco) can make you more susceptible to COVID-19, and put you at higher risk for severe symptoms. If you currently smoke or vape any substances, stopping or reducing use is strongly advised.

Our Weekly Drop-In Quit Smoking Clinic has been canceled for the remainder of the semester, and we are no longer able to provide nicotine replacement medications. However, you can still schedule an appointment to meet with our Smoking Cessation Specialist over the phone by calling (716) 645-2837 ext. 9. Wellness Coaching

With your typical routines up ended, you may need some support to meet your academic and personal goals. Wellness Coaching provides a strengths-based, non-judgmental approach to help you set reasonable, achievable goals.

Wellness Coaches will still be seeing appointments via phone or a web conferencing platform, as appropriate. More information about Wellness Coaching, including how to make an appointment via our on-line scheduling system, can be found on the Wellness Coaching web page.

Free Mindfulness Library

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, TAO has decided to make our Mindfulness Library free for everyone. Please feel free to share with family, friends, or anyone else who might benefit from enhancing their mindfulness practice. All exercises are available in both English and French. Headspace, a popular meditiation app, has also created a special collection of guided meditations for New York State residents.

Programs and Events

We have had to cancel many events for the health and safety of our campus community. However, many of our popular programs--like yoga, meditation group, and sexual assault awareness month workshops--will still be offered virtually.
