Let’s Get Real: Challenge the Selfie Ideal

UB is planning and participating in activities from February 25 to March 3, 2019 to mark National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. Make a difference by attending any or all of the events. 

  • Beauty Sick: How the Cultural Obsession with Appearance Hurts Girls and Women. Free presentation by author Dr. Renee Engeln on Monday, February 25, at 7:00 PM (doors open at 6:30 PM) in the Student Union Theater.
  • Wellness Activity Day on Wednesday, February 27, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. in the Student Union Lobby. It will include activities to Challenge the Selfie Ideal including social media fads and myths, health at every size display, selfie art, stressbusters, mindfulness and yoga, sexual health and positive body image, and mental health awareness resources.
  • Suicide Prevention Training: Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) on Thursday, February 28, from 10am to noon in Student Union 250. This training assists participants in learning to recognize the warning signs of suicide and ways to effectively help someone in need. Register online for this date or future offerings.
