SUNY Policy on Sanctions

Effective 10/1/20, SUNY-wide standards for violatons of COVID-19 safety protocols strengthen sanctions for reckless behavior and non-compliance. Students found in violation now face immediate academic and housing suspension, as well as possible dismissal, and student organizations in non-compliance face a permanent campus ban as a result of:

  • COVID-Positive Intentional Violations
  • Failure to Self-Isolate
  • Failure to Quarantine 
  • Prohibited On Campus Gathering (for Hosts and Attendees)
  • Prohibited Off Campus Gathering (for Hosts and Attendees)
  • Face Mask and Social Distancing Requirements
  • Contact Tracing
  • Failure to Comply with Campus Health Protocols (includes: surveillance testing and Daily Health Check participation)

The air is crisp, the leaves are changing color, and it’s the perfect time to stay active and appreciate everything happening this Fall.

Explore Letchworth Woods on North Campus

Did you know there’s a 65-acre forest right on campus, just a short walk from Ellicott Campus or anywhere on the Academic Spine? Go for a hike with friends to watch for wildlife, see how many plants you can identify, or just enjoy the brilliant Fall foliage.

Warm Up to New Events

Check out the full schedule of events, including virtual and in-person activities. Events include:

  • A bike trip
  • Halloween themed activities
  • Seed planting
  • Online yoga
  • Improv workshop

Pumpkin Carving

Did you know that pumpkins are grown on every continent except Antarctica? Grab your pumpkin and get ready for an online carving class with a professional carver.

Take a Drive

If you have a car (or a friend with a car), take a drive to some of the nearby pumpkin patches and farmers’ stands. Just remember to wear your mask and be safe when you’re out in the community.

Help our community stay safer and decrease the spread of COVID-19 by making these behaviors part of your routine.

Physical (Social) Distancing

  • Practice social distancing from others.
  • Follow directional and spacing guidelines and instructions.

Keeping Things Clean

  • Wash your hands frequently, or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your inner elbow.
  • Dispose of used tissues immediately and wash your hands.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Wear a Face Covering/Mask

  • A face covering must be worn at all times including outdoor spaces on UB’s campuses, to further reduce the risk of transmission as people travel from place to place.

Feel Sick? Stay Home!

  • Do a CDC COVID-19 symptom self-check every day before leaving your home.
  • Stay home and contact your health care provider if you are sick or experiencing any symptoms.
