Additional action items will be added prior to July 1.

Welcome Weekend Program Overview

Welcome Weekend is the official kick-off to the fall semester for new students. During Welcome Weekend, you will prepare for academics at UB, explore UB resources and connect with other students.

Welcome Weekend is an on-campus experience from Thursday, August 26, through Sunday, August 29; classes begin Monday, August 30. Most new students who will be living on campus will select either Tuesday, August 24, or Wednesday, August 25, as their move-in day; you will receive more specific information about move-in from Campus Living in July.

Welcome Weekend is a semi-structured experience, meaning you will have some requirements that are assigned, in addition to several opportunities to choose what is most important to you. Mark your calendar now, and check back in May for more details and expect to learn more about Welcome Weekend during Summer Orientation.

Returning Students

Welcome Weekend is designed for students beginning their first semester as UB students.

After Welcome Weekend

  • Make a plan for how you'll get your textbooks: buy, rent, borrow, and/or share.
  • Complete part 2 of both AlcoholEDU and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates (40 days after you complete part 1); instructions will be sent to your email. Learn more about both programs on the Health Promotion website.
