Boating. Basketball. Tennis. Yoga. Whether you want to take a hike, go to the gym or just hang out with your friends, you’ll enjoy all the ways to get some exercise and have fun indoors and out, right here on campus.
At UB, you’ll find some of the finest recreational facilities available in colleges and universities today.
Indoor and outdoor rec spaces offer a great chance to pick-up an informal game when your schedule allows.
UB Recreation Services offers a variety of personal training and group physical activity classes.
Whether you were a varsity athlete in high school, or you just want to go have fun with your friends, you’ll find opportunities to play sports throughout the year.
You can also participate in club sports. Find your sport through UBLinked.
Biking is a fun, easy and convenient way to get around campus. You’ll enjoy free winter bike storage, free bike registration, and bike racks on UB Stampede buses. If you don’t have your own bike, you can take advantage of our campus-wide bikeshare program.
Have fun and challenge yourself as you enjoy the natural beauty of UB’s campus and beyond. UB’s abundant green spaces include Lake LaSalle, Bizer Creek and Letchworth Woods — a living forest that is recognized by the National Wildlife Federation.
Get some exercise, or just relax on the water. You can go boating on scenic Lake LaSalle whether you’re a student, faculty, staff or member of the outside community.
If you’re a UB student, faculty or staff, you can use your current UB Card to get free loaner kayaks, canoes, paddle boats and paddle boards from the Lake LaSalle boat dock, located between the UB Commons and the Center for the Arts.
Lake LaSalle is typically open for boating from April until November, weather permitting.
First-time paddlers must take part in a short instructional-based session regarding the rules, regulations and safety. Paddling instruction is available to those who do not know how to paddle; student staff will be on site during posted hours of operation – weather permitting)
Paddling in Lake LaSalle when water temperature is below 60 degrees requires each paddler to adhere to cold water paddling protocols.
You can find copies of the ACA Cold Water Survival at the Boat Dock and outside the office of Outdoor Pursuits in the Student Union.
If you want to have an event in or on the water, please complete the Lake LaSalle Usage Form on UBLinked.
As a UB student, you can borrow outdoor gear at no cost. To borrow gear, please complete the Gear Rental Form.
