Ceremonies and Celebrations

Reflect on past achievements, honor fellow students and celebrate with the UB community at these ceremonies and events.

On this page:

Celebration of Academic Excellence

The Celebrations of Academic Excellence recognize the vision, goals and commitments that unite us as an academic community. At these ceremonies, students and faculty are honored with prestigious awards, including the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence. To learn more, please visit the Celebrations of Academic Excellence website.

Student Remembrance Ceremony

Join us as we remember our students who passed away. At this annual ceremony, we mourn the loss of these beloved individuals, and reflect upon the impact they had — on us, our friends and the entire campus community.

Each school or college within UB has its own degree conferral ceremony. You can learn more about these ceremonies — including dates and times, ticket information and registration information for students — at the Commencement website.

Recognition Ceremonies

The ALANA Celebration of Achievement is a commencement recognition ceremony, primarily for underrepresented students and student of color. For information about registration and participation, please view the Commencement website.

The Lavender Reception is a commencement recognition ceremony that celebrates the achievements of graduating students who identify with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community at UB. Check the Commencement website in late spring for information about registration and participation.
