The Orbitrap XL Mass Spectrometer is an ion trap mass analyzer that consists of two outer electrodes and a central electrode, enabling the tool to act as both an analyzer and detector. Ions entering the Orbitrap are captured through "electrodynamic squeezing," after which they oscillate around the central electrode and in between the two outer electrodes. This system can operate in either standard ESI or Nano ESI modes. Furthermore, we have the ability build (in-house) nano-columns for specialized applications. For proteomics applications, the data can be analyzed in-house using Proteome Discoverer.

Mass spectrometry services also offer protein analysis via Thermo Scientific’s™ Proteome Discoverer™, a mass informatics platform for protein scientists. The software simplifies a wide range of proteomics workflows, from protein and peptide identification to PTM analysis to isobaric mass tagging for quantitation. It supports multiple database search algorithms (SEQUEST) and multiple dissociation techniques (CID, HCD) for more comprehensive analyses.
