Feng Gu

Professor and Chair of Accounting and Law
University at Buffalo School of Management

AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

Financial reporting; mergers and acquisitions; intangibles; corporate governance

In his latest book, The End of Accounting and the Path Forward for Investors and Managers, Feng Gu argues that Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) have lost their relevance and recommends overhauling traditional earnings reports to highlight a company’s strategic resources—not the variables found on traditional earnings reports.

Gu's research has also explored management disclosure of financial and nonfinancial information, valuation of intangible assets, analyst forecasting, insider trading and international accounting. His expertise has been featured in such major media as Bloomberg Business, Fortune, the Wall Street Journal and New York Times.
