The word handmade could mean anything from baked goods, quilts, artwork, or wood working. Basically, anything that a person makes with their own creativity.  As a person who sews, quilts, embroiders, cooks, and makes crafty items, I understand the time and energy that goes into making homemade gifts for my family and friends. I also prefer homemade gifts because they are special, unique, and made from the heart.

Support Handmade

There are a lot of sites online where you can buy homemade goods. Buying homemade puts money in the pocket of people who live and work in your local area. They then often spend and invest the money back into the community. A lot of times, that money is used to pay for dance lessons or sports for their children.

I personally do not sell most of my items unless it is requested. People do not understand the time and money that go into certain items, such as my quilts. I prefer to make things as gifts. A quilt that is detailed can cost over $100 just for fabric and that doesn’t cover the time I spend on it away from my family.

When you buy handmade, you help create a society where passion and craft are rewarded, individualization is valued, and finding work you love is possible.
