A program for students, by students, Unplug & Play brings you all the feels of family game night with some life-sized additions. UB Rec & the Bulls Team Shop have teamed up to offer UB Students a weekly night of fun, games, popcorn, music and major shopping sales!
UB Rec provides a fun, unique program that does not require electricity and disengages us from technology.
During each semester, giant, life-size games create an inclusive, low stress environment that allows for fun competition. Unlike basketball, baseball, and other sports, Jenga, Corn Hole and Connect-4 do not require a specific sport skill set. We have chess, checkers, Yahtzee, coloring pages, and other games and activities.
Fall 2022, UB Students can enjoy 20% OFF all purchases made at the Bulls Team Shop on Friday’s between 5pm-8pm. Come end your week with a laugh, make some friends, get geared up and enjoy some games.
We’ll be in Alumni Arena every Friday evening this semester from 5pm-8pm, ready to unplug and play with you!
Date: Every Friday*
Time: 5pm - 8pm
Where: Throughout the Alumni Arena Foyer
Who: Anyone is welcome to play
Come out and throw a few bean bags or try a game of chess; disengage from your phone or computer and have some fun with others. No registration necessary. Games will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis.
We are bringing Minute to Win It, an international game show franchise where contestants take part in a series of 60-second challenges that use objects that are commonly available around the house, to Unplug and Play!
If you complete the challenge in a minute or less, you win. Sounds easy, right? Well, sometimes, it's not.

The "Face Cookie Game" is a true test of balance and muscle coordination.
The Goal: Move one to three cookies from your forehead to your mouth without using your hands.
How to Play: "Face Cookie" is extremely simple—at least in theory. Sit in a chair with a plate of cookies beside you. For the classic version of the game, use Oreo cookies. Lean your head back and place one cookie in the center of your forehead. When the one-minute timer begins, you must move the cookie from your forehead to your mouth using only your facial muscles and the forces of gravity.
The "Movin' On Up" game is one of the best Minute to Win It party games!
The Goal: To take one cup from the top of the stack and move it to the bottom with one hand, then repeat the process with the other hand. The game continues in this way until the red cup has gone through the entire stack of cups and resumes its original place at the bottom.
How to Play: The player starts the game standing in front of the table that holds the cups. When the one-minute timer begins, the player grabs the cups and begins moving them, one at a time, from the top to the bottom.
Grab the top cup with one hand and, with the same hand, move it to the bottom of the stack. Then, with the other hand, grab the next cup and do the same thing. Continue moving the cups, one at a time with alternating hands, until the red cup is once again at the bottom of the stack.
Accomplish this before the timer runs out and you're a winner.
Even a game this easy has to have some rules:
The "Baby Rattle" game certainly isn't child's play—but it will sure be a hit!
The Goal: The goal of Baby Rattle is to transfer the gumballs loaded inside one soda pop bottle into an empty soda pop bottle, all without getting them jammed in the bottlenecks. Sounds simple right? Read on.
How to Play: First, set up the game by filling two of the bottles halfway up with gumballs. Place the neck opening of an empty bottle on top of the neck opening of the one you just filled, and tape them together securely at the necks. Repeat with the second set of bottles. Place the bottle stacks on the table. They should resemble two oversized baby rattles—hence, the name of the game.
Then, start the timer and begin to play by grabbing the bottles at the neck where they are taped together, one set in each hand. Flip each set over and begin shaking or swirling them to transfer the gumballs from one bottle to the other. The object is to transfer all of the gumballs from the half-filled bottle into the empty one. If you can do this, then place the bottle stacks on the table and remove your hands from the bottles in under 60 seconds, you win the game.
As with all "Minute to Win It" games, there are a few rules you must follow to make sure you aren't disqualified:
