Dear University Community:
As I wrote in early April, a team of evaluators from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education spent three days at the beginning of that month visiting UB as the final stage of our university’s decennial reaccreditation review. Over the course of their many meetings and discussions with UB community members, the chair and other members of the Middle States review team repeatedly expressed their very positive impressions of our university and the tremendous progress we have made over the past decade.
I am delighted to report on June 26, 2014, the Commission on Higher Education formally acted to reaffirm our accreditation—a very gratifying acknowledgment of this progress.
The accreditation process is an important way to measure our advancement as we continually work to enhance educational excellence and achieve our strategic objectives. The process of accreditation is not a one-time event that occurs every ten years. This is an ongoing institutional process, and one which confirms our university is on course to realize the ambitious goals we have articulated through the UB 2020 vision.
I want to express my deep appreciation to the hundreds of faculty, staff, and students across UB who have devoted their energy and expertise to this university-wide effort toward reaccreditation.
As the Middle States Commission on Higher Education has affirmed, UB is making sustained and remarkable progress as one of the world’s great research universities. This progress hinges on the excellence of every member of our university community, and I want to thank each of you for all you contribute as we build even further on this success in the years to come.
With best regards,
