Congratulations to the 24 UB faculty and staff members who earned the 2024-25 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence. Among the recipients are several researchers whose innovations have received UB Business & Entrepreneur Partnerships support:
Paschalis Alexandridis, UB Distinguished Professor, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service, which recognizes the consistently superior service contributions of teaching faculty sustained over a period of time. Alexandridis was recently awarded funding through the UB Center of Excellence in Materials Informatics (CMI) to partner with Multisorb Technologies to develop a safer method for disposing of prescription drugs.
Filip Stefanovic, assistant professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, SEAS, received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, which honors those who consistently demonstrate superb teaching at the undergraduate, graduate or professional level. Stefanovic has received funding through the CMI to partner with Tapecon, Inc. to develop a series of printable sensors measuring muscle activity and oxygen levels.
Jonathan Lovell, SUNY Empire Innovation Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, SEAS, received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities, which recognizes the work of those who engage actively in scholarly and creative pursuits beyond their teaching responsibilities. POP Biotechnologies, a Buffalo-based biopharmaceutical start-up, licenses nanotechnology invented by Lovell through BEP’s Tech Transfer Office. The start-up receives product development support through BEP’s Center for Advanced Technology in Big Data and Health Sciences (UB CAT) grant program.
