Educational Effectiveness sponsors and co-sponsors a variety of on-campus events to promote assessment expertise within the campus community. In addition, OEE serves as a clearinghouse for local and regional assessment conferences, workshops, and training opportunities.
Co-Sponsored by Student Life, the Graduate School, the Office of Institutional Analysis, and the Office of Educational Effectiveness, the Student Success Summit is taking the former Assessment Day to a whole new level!
Based on feedback from the campus community with regard to the need for more advanced professional development in the areas of assessment and continuous improvement, the planning committee has re-designed Assessment Day into the Student Success Summit. Each annual event will focus on an issue that is key to student learning, academic success, retention, and completion. The keynote and panel sessions will provide practical examples of the use of assessment results to inform efforts to address the issue. Student Success Summit 2019, which was held on October 25, addressed the issue of retention.
Each fall, the SUNY Council on Assessment (SCoA) sponsors regional drive-in workshops on relevant assessment topics. The Fall 2020 workshop will be held via Zoom (link provided on registration) on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 12:30-2:00 pm. This interactive remote gathering will enable those involved in assessment on their campuses to connect with others and focus on pressing issues related to assessment, planning, and accreditation through a presentation, a panel session, and breakout sessions.
The Assessment Network of New York (ANNY) has cancelled its 2020 conference owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In its place, ANNY is offering free annual membership and a series of webinars, free to members.
Formerly known as Assessment Day, the Student Success Summit is a professional development day designed to inspire the UB community around key issues related to student success and the use of assessment to inform efforts to address these issues.
