David Felder is widely recognized as one of the leading composers of his generation.

He is the Birge-Cary chair in music composition and serves as the director of the Robert and Carol Morris Center for 21st Century Music and since 1985 as the director of June in Buffalo, the region’s signature new music festival which helped establish the university as a creative center for contemporary music.

Felder is also the artistic director of the Slee Sinfonietta, a professional chamber orchestra in residence at UB and co-director of UB’s Creative Arts Initiative, a pioneering program inviting artists in all fields to the university for on-campus residencies.
