Project Summary:  Person-centered care (PCC) is a revolutionary approach to the care of older adults living in long-term care facilities. Its adoption has been mandated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and supported by the Institute of Medicine. Adoption of a PCC philosophy takes investment in terms of leadership, resources to train staff, embedding new practices, dissolving institutional practices and policies. Currently, there is only anecdotal evidence to suggest that there is a meaningful return on this investment. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of PCC on nursing home resident and facility outcomes.
