To apply to the University at Buffalo as a transfer student, please collect, prepare and scan the following materials. You will need to save them on your computer and then upload them during the application process.
We need an electronic copy of your transcripts from every college and university that you have ever attended. For students in an Indian university, we need marksheets for all attempts in all semesters.
If you have a student copy of your transcript, you can scan it and upload it to your application portal.
Many schools offer electronic transcript services, as well. You can receive these transcripts directly, or have them sent to our office via email at intadmit@buffalo.edu.
If you cannot obtain a digital or paper copy, try accessing your grades through your school’s website. Then take a screenshot of your grades (make sure it includes your name) and save it to your computer.
We will also need copies of your test scores and any other required documents. You will scan and save these to your computer.
You will submit all of your required application documents to us through your application portal.
All applicants should receive an email from UB (account "intadmit@buffalo.edu) with application portal instructions shortly after the submission of their application. Emails will be sent to email listed in application. Please check your "junk" and "spam" folder if you do not receive this email.
Any document written in a foreign language must include an English translation.
Students who have earned 24 college credits or fewer must provide secondary school grades in addition to all of the materials listed on this page.
Note about transfer credits:
If you are transferring from a foreign university, you may want to collect course descriptions and syllabi from the classes that you have already taken and bring them with you when you arrive on campus. This will help your academic department determine if the classes you took there can be applied toward your degree at UB.
You can fulfill the English proficiency requirements by submitting a passing test score or by qualifying for one of our exceptions.
Accepted Test Scores
Standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) are NOT required for transfer admission.
Some majors require prerequisite coursework or other criteria beyond what is required for university admission.
You should check your specific program requirements for more details.
If you are applying to the dance, music, theatre or music theatre programs, you may be required to audition before being admitted to the program. For information on supplemental requirements or to schedule an audition, you may contact:
