Arriving Late

ISS recommends that you arrive early to attend International Student Welcome; however, sometimes situations occur - such as travel issues and visa delays - that are outside of your control. Please review the information below if you will arrive in the U.S. after the first day of classes.

Undergraduate Students

Newly Admitted Undergraduates:

Undergraduate students who will start their first semester at UB for the upcoming semester must contact International Admissions (intadmit@buffalo.edu) to request late arrival permission if they will arrive after the program start date on their I-20/DS-2019.

Previously Admitted Undergraduates:

You must contact ISS (iss@buffalo.edu) to request late arrival permission if you will arrive after the program start date on your I-20/DS-2019 and are:

  • An undergraduate student who began your academic program remotely and will being coming to UB campus for the first time.
  • An undergraduate student who will be returning to the U.S. with an “Initial” I-20 (due to change of status via travel/return from LOA/return after violation of status) for the upcoming semester.

Graduate Students

Newly Admitted Graduate Students:

Graduate students who will start their first semester at UB must contact their academic department to request late arrival permission if they will arrive after the program start date on their I-20/DS-2019.

Previously Admitted Graduate Students:
