About Bruce Holm Memorial Catalyst Fund
The Holm Fund offers funding to facilitate development and commercialization of technology-driven innovations that will lead to the formation of a startup business or license to an existing company. Grants from Buffalo Fund Accelerator can be used for a variety of activities that advance innovations from laboratory to marketplace. These include prototype development, commercial feasibility testing, software coding, or user interface development, or other projects that mitigate risks for potential licensees or investors.
Applicants may apply for up to $50,000 to conduct projects that advance the commercial potential of their innovation.
The Holm Fund was established in 2011, in memory of Dr. Bruce Holm, an entrepreneur, scientist and faculty member in the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Holm commercialized a drug that offers lifesaving treatment to premature infants.
Participation and Eligibility
Principal Investigator must be a UB faculty. Non-UB faculty and/or students may be co-investigators or collaborators. A completed UB New Technology Disclosure (NTD) form must precede or accompany the application. Existing industry connections are not a prerequisite for funding; however, all projects should have a clear commercial opportunity and benefit to the public good.
The Holm Fund is not actively funding projects at this time.
