Structural characterization of biomolecules important in human health and disease is crucial to understanding how these molecules function, as well as to designing therapeutics. Structural methods that make use of vanishingly small crystals have the potential to revolutionize how we obtain highly detailed structural ‘snapshots’ of biomolecules. The new research grant funding to Dr. Bowman and Dr. Lynch will enable fundamental advances by developing pipelines for enhanced detection, imaging, and sample handling to enable these structural methods, accelerating our understanding of the molecules involved in many diseases and biological processes.
