HWI’s Education and Diversity Director Nicole Terranova spearheaded the coordination of the 2024 BioXFEL Spring Symposium at Arizona State University this week. Over 50 students and staff scientists were in attendance and presented, including our Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Edward Snell. The Symposium provided a valuable opportunity for experts in fields related to structural biology, data production, and computational analysis to share research findings leading to continued collaborations involving the biological applications of XFELs.

Biology with X-ray Free Electron Lasers (BioXFEL) is a Science and Technology Center established by the National Science Foundation in 2013. Composed of eight U.S. research universities and aimed at addressing the fundamental questions in biology at the molecular level. BioXFEL is a part of HWI’s educational vision, making powerful use of existing collaborations and our impact nationally and internationally.
