For me, mentoring is one of the most meaningful ways to create impact—not by solving problems for others, but by walking beside them as they navigate challenge, uncertainty, and growth.
I see mentoring as a process of reflection, resonance, and shared humanity. It’s about listening deeply, helping people reconnect to their own strengths, and finding clarity in the midst of complexity. Often, the obstacles that get in the way of success aren’t just academic—they’re emotional, systemic, or situational—and mentoring can help bring these layers into view with compassion and care.
In addition to mentoring UB graduate students, I also work globally with youth leaders across Africa, supporting them in applying experiential learning to advance the Sustainable Development Goals. These experiences continually remind me that learning and resilience are deeply intertwined—and that the most powerful kind of mentoring helps people not only move forward but grow stronger in the process.
