Dr. Tia Palermo Advances Understanding of Intimate Partner Violence in the Global South

With international partners, CGHE faculty affiliate and Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Environmental Health Dr. Tia Palermo is studying the links between intimate partner violence (IPV) and cash transfers to poor and vulnerable women in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Collecting data in Ghana, Ethiopia, and Bangladesh, Dr. Palermo and her colleagues at the International Food Policy Research Institute, the University of North Carolina, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UNICEF, and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public health aim to contribute evidence to emergent research questions, and ensure that IPV is on the agenda of social protection policymakers in LMICs.
