RECRUITING AFRICAN REFUGEE WOMEN FOR COMMUNITY-BASED REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH STUDIES

Introduction

•Refugees have been resettled in the Buffalo region for over the past ten years.

• In 2014, Upstate New York settled 95% of refugees resettled in New York state.

•African refugees accounting for 23% of those numbers (BRIA Population Data for FFY 2014, 2014).

•African refugee women living n the U.S. have been identified  as being at risk of poor reproductive health outcomes.

•In this poster we detail our experiences with recruiting African ( Somali Bantu and Congolese) refugee women to participate in qualitative and quantitative community-based studies on reproductive health.
